As the University of Saskatchewan expanded exponentially in the post-war era the need to advertise became much more important for the Social Directorate. While word of mouth could still be counted on for some promotion, the days when everyone on campus knew one another, the location and time of every event and had easy access to an abundant supply of tickets had gone. Here are a few examples of the types of posters which were produced during the 1940s to promote campus events. These posters were donated to the University Archives by Elaine French; her husband William G. French, a 1941 graduate of the University of Saskatchewan, had preserved these hand-drawn posters, primarily the work of Jim Quong and A.B. Farnam.
