Greystone - 1949
John Carpenter gets egged for the Medicine Mystery Dance. The Med Mystery Dance was started during the 1920s, though it did not receive its mysterious name until the late 1940s. In 1948-49 Medical student John Carpenter attempted to boost sales for the dance by enticing potential ticket buyers with his own humiliation. For $1.00 he would allow himself to be hit with an egg, for $5.00 he would allow himself to be hit in the face with a pie, and for $100 he claimed he would allow the ticket buyer to burn off all of his hair with a blow torch. Naturally a group of Law students pooled their money to purchase the prized ticket, but from this point the story is clouded in mystery. Though the hapless Med student was hauled into a back room to be torched he emerged a short time later, hair intact. Rumour states that the Lawyers were moved to pity by the weeping Med, but no one really knows.
