Exhibits
Given the variety of images available, and the range of messages found on the cards, we believe this site will provide research capability for a number of disciplines. As part of that research component we were aided by two classes at the University of Saskatchewan: Art History 420 (Professional Practices in Visual Culture) and English 803 (Cultural and Literary History). Students were invited to provide essays based on the images found on Wish You Were Here; those essays may be found below.
- Constructions of Identity through Performances of Masculinity and Femininity: Images of Vesta Tilley and Claude Cahun, by Lindsay Royale
- Home Sweet Home: Tracing Connections Between Seventeenth Century Dutch Domestic Interiors and Saskatchewan Postcards, by Jesse Campbell
- Illustrating an Era: The Song Postcards of Bamforth & Co, by Jillian Cyca
- Imagining Animals: The Illustrated Postcards of the Mary Taylor Postcard Collection, by Alison Cooley
- Marginalizing Landscapes: Postcards of Canadian Internment, by Alana Zuzak
- Postcard Images of the Orient, by Emily Corbett
- Postcards from the Prairie: A Settlement Discourse, by Kim Ennis
- Troubling postcards: sites of cultural erasure, by Taylor Leedahl
