Curator's note"1935 Wasn't All His Fault." Why Shoot the Teacher is one of the most commercially successful of English Canadian films. Based on a Max Braithwaite novel, it presents the misadventures of Max, a young teacher from the city hired to run a rural school in Saskatchewan during the Depression. The poster features Max arriving at the school and the names of the film's two imported stars, Bud Cort and Samantha Eggar.
