In preparing this exhibit an earnest attempt has been made to present a
variety of Saskatchewan communities with reference to size, age and geographic
location. In a few instances it was impossible to locate suitable images or
documents among the holdings of member institutions relating to some
communities. Nevertheless, this site provides a visitor the opportunity to view
more than 90 Saskatchewan centres over a period spanning more than a century.
It is to be hoped that over time archival accessions will make it possible to
have even more communities represented.
This exhibit attempts to provide representative images and textual materials
currently in the custody of those archival repositories in the Province which
are actively participating in the Saskatchewan Archival Information Network
(SAIN). Despite the preponderance of items in the holdings of the larger
repositories, a concerted effort has been made to select and present material on
a fair and equitable basis to ensure the viewer understands the wealth of
valuable documents that exist in archives throughout Saskatchewan. Reference to
other virtual exhibits on the SCAA web pages reinforces this fact.
