Scope and content	File contains a photocopy of Allison's article "Fourth World Education in Canada and the Faltering Promise of Native Teacher Education Programs" from the Journal of Canadian Studies 18(3), 1983, page 102 to 118. There is also three pages of notes Barron made on the article, which are mainly questions he was presumably going to ask his students in a seminar format. The article defines fourth world communities in Canada, and the need to address the inadequate education systems that were in place at the time. Allison argues that Native teacher education programs focus too much on creating employment for Native teachers and not enough on creating better teachers of Native students. He offers suggestions to improve what he sees as a flawed system.
