Scope and contentGovernment of the North-West Territories Council Minutes for 1873-1886. The first 104 pages of this book are the minutes of the North-West Territories Council, 1873-1875 and appear to be the original minutes as some are signed by A. Morris, Lieutenant Governor, or by the Clerk or Acting Clerk of the North West Council. Pages 107-108 are a "Record of Proclamations, Appointments, Notices, etc. of the Lieutenant-Governor of the North West Territories." These are copies as they are marked "(Sgd.)" but some are initialed by the Clerk of the North West Council. A wide variety of Aboriginal issues are addressed including preparation for the signing of Treaties 4 and 6, land rights (First Nations and Metis), a request by the Metis of Qu'Appelle for the bison hunt to be regulated by the government, economic and educational matters.
