Scope and contentReproduction of "The Assiniboine Basin", by Martin Kavanagh. Page 253-355. Paddled to Pelly, Trip of the Pioneer Steamer Assiniboine Navigated Almost to its Source (originally printed in the Manitoba Free Press, Monday, July 18, 1881). Discusses the journey of the steamer Marquette down the Assiniboine River in the form of short journal entries. Includes discussion of Chief Cote, and the Cote Indian Reserve where the steamer stopped to take on cord wood for fuel.
