Scope and contentFile contains a question by Commissioner Sillett and responses by relocatees from the High Arctic Relocation. Commissioner Sillett asks if the relocatees can clarify from which communities they are from, and explain some of the key differences which existed between the communities that were established as a result of the relocation. Sillet talks about transportation and resource differences between Grise Fiord and Resolute Bay in framing her questions. SE discusses how Grise Fiord and Resolute Bay are very different communities both in social composition, environmental, and geographic terms. AN discusses slaughtering dogs in the community, while EN adds that this was done due to an outbreak of distemper. JA then discusses selling pelts. MA discusses the impact of losing dogs on the community which relied on dog sleds for transport. LA discusses a government order to slaughter Inuit dogs due to the death of a young girl, and states that this may be what the other relocatees are referring to.
