Scope and contentA photocopy of Judith K. Brown's article, "Economic Organization and the Position of Women among the Iroquois," Ethnohistory 17(3) fall 1970. Abstract: "The relationship between the position of women and their economic role is examined by comparing ethnohistoric and ethnographic data relating to the Iroquois of North America and the Bemba of Northern Rhodesia. It is concluded that the high status of Iroquois women reflected their control of their tribes economic organization."
