Scope and contentThe file contains a presentation made in-camera to the Commission by FA of the Native Women's Association of Canada. FA, representing the Indigenous Women's Collective of Manitoba membership of Northwest Region (Thompson area), makes recommendations regarding daycare, self-government, political representation for women, a role for Aboriginal youth in the self-government process, the need for grassroots involvement with self-governance, off-reserve and jurisdictional issues, the Indian Act, the need for further Aboriginal staffing at the Department of Indian Affairs, the need for more life-skills training programs in communities, more addictions programming, parental skills workshops, economic programs, cultural awareness programs, educational issues, and general women's issues.
