Scope and content | Chapter V from "The Story of Saskatchewan and its People." The first part of the chapter discusses the Lieut. Governor Laird council's investigation into the "food supply of the Indian". This resulted in "An Ordinance for the Protection of the Buffalo" of which 11 parts are published therein. The section sub-section is entitled "Buffalo Slaughter by Indians" and is largely Professor Hind's account of his time with the Sandy Hills Cree in 1858. He describes the buffalo pounds he saw and gives his opinions on the overall practice. | |
