Scope and content | File contains a photocopy of two Flanagan articles. "The Case Against Metis Aboriginal Rights," Canadian Public Policy IX:3:314-325, 1983; and "Aboriginal Land Claims in the Prairie Provinces," taken from Aboriginal Land Claims in Canada: A Regional Perspective, Ken Coates (ed.) - Toronto : Copp Clark Pitman, c1992. pp. 45-72. In the Metis article Flanagan argues that their Aboriginal rights as claimed in constitution are a historical mistake. In Coates' book he argues that "comprehensive claims" have no weight because Aboriginal title was extinguished in the treaties. | |
