Scope and contentCopy of a short book dealing with the early history of the Melfort and Carrot River Valley areas of Eastern Saskatchewan. Includes much historical information on early French explorers, especially the Chevalier de la Corne for whom Fort a la Corne is named. Claims that he was the first to practice European agriculture within what is now Saskatchewan in the late 1700s. Also discusses local Aboriginal people, the good relations between the French and local Aboriginal people in the 1700s, and later British exploration, as well as first settlement by Europeans in the 19th and 20th Centuries.
