Scope and contentAn overview of the history of the Wood Mountain and Whitemud area of south western Saskatchewan from pre-history until contemporary times. Focuses on the area which would later become Grasslands National Park and includes detailed discussion of Aboriginal groups occupation and usage of the area from the last ice age past the time of the numbered treaties. Atsina (Gros Ventre), Assiniboine, Dakota (Sioux-Santee and Teton), Cree, Blackfoot, and Metis history in the area are examined.
