Scope and contentField diary of Lieutenant J.A.V. Preston of the Midland Battalion. North West Campaign, 1885. Discusses the journey west from Ontario, perceptions on Saskatchewan countryside and people, as well as the relief of Prince Albert. It then follows the Midlands quest west to take part in the pursuit of Big Bear, and eventual departure downriver back to Winnipeg. Also includes an order of battle for the Midland Battalion, and some historical statistics on the uprising.
