Historical noteDr. Waiser recieved provincial and university funding to write a new provincial history to coincide with the Provincial Centennial in 2005. The book was aimed at appealing to a popular audience while offering graduate students experience in historical research. When completed it was presented as a gift to the province from the University of Saskatchewan.
Scope and contentThe file contains working files for the book Saskatchewan: a new history, specifically dealing with immigration to the province before 1914. Contents pertaining to Aboriginal topics include: a copy of an article entitled “Indian Land Surrenders in Southern Saskatchewan” by Stewart Raby in The Canadian Geographer, (vol.17, no.1, Spring 1973); handwritten research notes from an unidentified manuscript by Barry Potyandi (title illegible) referring to the Metis at Willow Bunch; a copy of an article entitled “The Peoples of Saskatchewan in Pictures: The Francophones” which includes discussion of Metis settlements in Saskatchewan
