Historical noteDr. Waiser recieved provincial and university funding to write a new provincial history to coincide with the Provincial Centennial in 2005. The book was aimed at appealing to a popular audience while offering graduate students experience in historical research. When completed it was presented as a gift to the province from the University of Saskatchewan.
Scope and contentThe file contains working files for the book Saskatchewan: a new history, specifically dealing with infrastructure and administration in the lead up to province-hood and during its first decade in Saskatchewan. Contents pertaining to Aboriginal topics include: a copy of an article from Saskatchewan History (Vol.II Jan. 1949, Number ?) entitled “Local Government in the North-west Territories: the Beginnings of Rural Local Government, 1883-1905” by A.N. Reid; a copy of an article from the Regina Leader Post entitled “Maginificent Scenes Mark Duke’s Visit” including a drawing of the Duke with a “pipe of peace” (Oct 14, 1912).
