Scope and contentFile contains a paper entitled "Some Notes on Newly-Discovered Fur Posts on the Saskatchewan River" by O.C. Furniss, reprinted from the Canadian Historical Review: September, 1943. The paper discusses the Francois-Finlay Post near Nipawin, SK, and at least three other posts in the area. The second part of the article discusses the Sturgeon River Posts, three of which existed at various times near the mouth of the Sturgeon, or "Netting" River (SK), which flows into the North Saskatchewan River a short distance west of Prince Albert. Included is a hand drawn map of the mouth of the sturgeon and the rough location of Peter Pond's original post. Two additional copies of this article, directly from the Canadian Historical Review, are enclosed in the file. A short article, likely from the Prince Albert Daily Herald, is included in the file entitled "The Last Saskatchewan Post" by Janet Munro (1930s?). This article discusses the the demolition of the HBC posts in Prince Albert, and includes two photographs of their buildings there. The file also includes a hand-typed biography entitled "Peter Pond, Furtrader and Explorer" by the Reverand (sic) H.A. McDowell (nd), and a hand-typed reminiscence: "A Tale of Fort a la Corne - Established by a sou (sic) of Veraudrye (sic) in 1753, Suppression of Treason in the Fur Trade" by Angus McKay (nd).
