Scope and content | File contains a variety of materials related to fur trade posts on the Saskatchewan River system, and the fur trade in general. Included are two copies of a map by Father Antonio Champagne entitled "Lieux historiques de l'Ouest - 1717-1760" which includes a variety of early French fur posts in Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Northern Ontario. Also contains a piece of correspondence related to the maps. Filw contains the transcript of a radio talk entitled "Life and Customs of Prairie Traders and Hunters" by R. Mayson of CKBI Radio aired on September 4, 1953. File contains a "Statement re Fort Sturgeon, Otherwise Known as Peter Pond's Fort" by Professor A.S. Morton of the University of Saskatchewan. File also includes a short paper entitled "The Fur Traders Forts in the region of Prince Albert" (untitled, no date). File also includes a transcript from the inland journal of one Robert Longmoor, a fur trader working for the Hudson's Bay Company. File also includes a piece of correspondence from the HBC dated 1970 in response to an inquiry on when the the Company first set up shop in Prince Albert proper (their earliest record indicates an appointment being made for "Fort Albert" in 1868-69). File also includes an article from the Prince Albert Daily Herald entitled "Hearne's string of posts for Hudson's Bay Company ended free-trading era" from the Saturday, June 13, 1981 issue. File also includes an article from the Prince Albert Daily Herald entitled "Thompson died penniless after life of mapping west" from the Tuesday, June 16, 1981 issue. File also includes an article from the Prince Albert Daily Herald entitled "Efficiency key to North West Company success" from the Monday, June 15, 1981 issue. File also contains an article entitled "Greed of the fur traders changed the west" from the Prince Albert Daily Herald, Friday, June 12, 1981 issue. File also contains an article from the Prince Albert Daily Herald entitled "French traders lured Indians on fur route" from the Thursday June 11, 1981 issue. File also includes an article from the Prince Albert Daily Herald entitled "Way of life on the prairies hit by sudden dramatic changes" (discussing the effects of the merger of the HBC and NWC), no date provided. File also contains an article entitled "Fur traders faced cruelties of nature and competitors" from the Prince Albert Daily Herald, Wednesday June 10, 1981 issue. File also includes an article from the Prince Albert Daily Herald entitled "Travelling overland on snowshoes proved a a painful task for sailors" from the Wednesday, June 17, 1981 issue.
