Scope and contentThe first article comments on the cost of land settlements with aboriginals in the United States, with the author's hope that the Canadian government will resolve these claims in the manner the United States government has, no matter the financial cost. In the second article, the author states that the Canadian government's "White Paper" only "stresses the minimal nature of the obligations it has contractually assumed and looks toward the final termination of these agreements." Duran states Canadian aboriginals want recognition of their rights as Canadian citizens and as aboriginals, and under international law, Canada should do so.
