Scope and content | A photocopy of "The Effect of Contact on the French," chapter 10 of Bailey's book titled: The Conflict of European and Eastern Algonkian Cultures 1504-1700: A Study in Canadian Civilization by Alfred Goldsworthy Bailey, Toronto : University of Toronto Press, c1969, page 117-125. He argues that the French necessarily adopted many Aboriginal practices as they brought few material possessions of their own land with them. The French depended on Indigenous populations for survival. | |
