Scope and content | File contains a copy of Joyce Green's paper, "Sexual Equality and Indian Government: An Analysis of Bill C-31," c1985. At the time Green was a graduate student at the University of Calgary. She argues that the then upcoming changes to the Indian Act that would allow women and children to regain their status, is a constitutional right under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. It is good the government is correcting this past wrong, but to truly move forward it must allow Native self-government to proceed so they can determine their own band membership. | |
