Historical note | Rev. English was an Anglican Minister serving at Little Pine and Lucky Man reserve during the time these records were created. Mrs. English was appointed field matron for the reserve by the Department on Indian Affairs. She cooked hot meals for the school children, provided health care and "often provided clothing and quilts in exchange for moccasins, berries and other items." | |
Scope and content | Journals, itinerary and ledgers of Rev. William Henry and Mrs. Helen Anne (Warren) English. Records for the department of Indian Affairs about the health care relief work she undertook for Indigenous people on the reserve. Also includes a recipe book kept by their daughter. A majority of these records are from their time on the Little Pine Reserve between 1913 and 1917. | |
