Historical noteHarold Nelson Woodsworth served as an Indian Agent at a number of agencies in Saskatchewan.
Scope and contentThe file contains a book entitled "A Cree grammar, being a simplified approach to the study of the language of the Cree Indians of Canada" by Rev. Harry Ernest Hives. Rev. Hives served as an Anglican Missionary at Lac la Ronge and this grammar intended for English speakers attempts "the standard of the Plain Cree...although the writer's experience has been almost entirely among the Woods Crees and the examples and vocabularies may stamp the book more of the Wood Cree type." The book was published by the Missionary Society of the Church of England in Canada in 1948.
