Scope and content | File includes a presentation by Chief Gilles Bacon and Councillor Raoul Vollant of the Maliotenam Band Council. Chief Gilles Bacon makes a very brief statement welcoming the Commission and expressing happiness about recent elections. Following this Raoul Vollant complains of his band council not being recognized by the federal government, speaks of a sit-in protest action he was part of, discusses bad financial management on the part of Sept-Iles and Maliotenam, talks about corruption, influence peddling, and abuse of power, the band councils actions against the democratic will of the membership and similar issues. Vollant requests that the Commission call for a public inquiry into these matters. Commissioner Dussault engages Vollant on a discussion of these issues following the presentation. | |
