Scope and contentFile contains a presentation by David Chartrand, President of the National Association of Friendship Centres, with comments by Terry and Tom Doxidurn, executive director and Vice-President, respectively, of said organization. Chartrand describes his organization as "the largest service organization which exists to improve the quality of life for urban Aboriginal people." His presentation outlines the history of Friendship Centres in Canada, and "describes the ways in which we are working on national, regional and local levels to care for our people...outlining options for the future which will enable our membership to meet the needs of their communities as effectively as possible." Following the presentation Commissioners Erasmus, Chartrand, Dussault, and Blakeney discuss some of the issues raised with the three officials including funding, service delivery, urban self-governance, intergovernmental relations, and urbanization.
