Several copies are available at the U of S library. This chapter outlines the scientific image of the Indian as defined by anthropology. This includes how Indians came to be in the western hemisphere, their cultural attributes, how "changable" attributes were, and their ranking among other societies; all as defined by white men. He argues that the "white-thinkers" mostly used the evidence to back up old theories, not create new ones. | |
