Scope and contentFile contains Robin Fisher's essay titled "Indian Control of the Maritime Fur Trade on the N. W. Coast," presented at the Symposium on approaches to Native Studies in Canada, National Museum of Man, October, 1975. A re-examination of the role of N. W. coast Indians in the fur trade from the journals of European traders. Concludes Indians were not victimized in this trade, rather they were part of an equal relationship where they exhibited a lot of control. Excellent bibliography of sources, well written and documented.
