Scope and content | Short book of reminiscences by Mary E. Wheeler, daughter of an Anglican missionary living at the Red Pheasant Cree Reserve near North Battleford from 1906-1915. Includes many anecdotes about the people, practices, and places on the reserve including tales of bbq-ed gophers and skunk stew, traditional religious beliefs, warfare between the Cree and Blackfoot, James Isbister, and other topics. Mary picked up some of the Cree language and recalls anecdotes about various residents. | |
