Scope and content | Correspondence relating to concern for Indigenous communities, health and welfare, a proposal to set up a "task force: to understand relations between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians, the institution of a National Indian Day, issues affecting Western Canadian Indigenous persons and those of British Columbia, the Indian Claims Commission, training and employment, the integration of Indigenous children into public schools, numerous petitions, living conditions, food and clothing assistance, supplemented wages and guidance programs, construction of a zoological garden and bird sanctuary on a reserve, the annual convention of the Native Brotherhood of BC, and the popularity of Inuit Art in Europe. Items of note: Newspaper clippings from The Telegram, and the Toronto Daily Star, a report on religion in Indigenous and integrated schools, an open letter to the province of Manitoba addressing the welfare of native persons there. | |
