Scope and content | This file contains materials relating to Sioux Indians in Prince Albert, Canada and the United States. Included is a photocopy of a chapter of a book titled The First Sioux Nun: Sister Marie-Josephine Nebraska, S.G.M. 1859-1894; and a photocopy of a magazine article titled Faith Journeys of the Sioux by Pam Bauer. Also included is correspondence from 1972 between John L. Constantine, President, Prince Albert Historical Society and Archie Seivewright, Head, Historic Sites Committee, Saskatchewan History and Folklore Society pertaining to a proposed ski hill to be built in Little Red River Park, location of a Sioux encampment in the late 1870s. Also included is a letter from the Office of the Inspector of Indian Agencies, Prince Albert, to a Mr. Scott regarding dances held by Sioux Indians living on the Round Plains (Wahpeton No. 94A) First Nation near Prince Albert. Included in the letter is a memorandum relating to dances held by residents of Wahpeton First Nation, showing location, dates of dance and provisions consumed. Also included are two obituaries for Chief Flying Buffalo and Chief Toma from the Round Plain Reserve, and a typed manuscript of a report titled Sioux Indians in Canada by Ida M. C. Thompson. | |
