Scope and contentFile contains materials related to the Nisbet Party: that group of missionaries and associates centred around the Reverend James Nisbet who established the Prince Albert mission in 1866 to minister to the Cree of the area. Included are "An Opinion Regarding the Nisbet Party" by the 1935 Curator of the Prince Albert Museum, some handwritten notes on the composition of the party (which included John McKay) and speculation on James Isbister, an article from the Prince Albert Daily Herald (1941) entitled "Prince Albert Celebrates Its Diamond Jubilee: Pioneers Arrived on Raft, Landing Here 75 Yeras Ago," some correspondence from Oakville, Ontario regarding James' family, a brief one page biographical sketch of Rev. Nisbet. The file also includes a piece of writing (and a typed transcript) of a story entitled "An Incident re: the Nisbet Party (and re: Lawrence Clarke)" which discusses the original landing place of the Party, and a dispute between William McKay and Emmanuel Champagne regarding this bit of history as well as regarding Lawrence Clarke's alleged statements to the French Metis which may have triggered the 1885 Uprising.
