Scope and content | The file contains a presentation by Ila Bussidor, Sayisi Dene First Nation. Bussidor, a former Chief of the Sayisi Dene First Nation and a student at the Keewatin Community College, discusses two major concerns: the relocation of his people from Little Duck Lake to Churchill, Manitoba in 1956 and the resulting loss of 1/3 of their population; and the Sayisi Dene's title to traditional homelands in Manitoba and North of 60 which have "yet to be recognized by any valid Treaty." Bussidor also contrasts the treatment which his people have recieved from the federal government compared to that of the neighbouring Inuit encompassed by the creation of Nunavut. | |
