Scope and content | The file contains a presentation on behalf of Sik-ooh-Kotoki Friendship Society by Mike Bruised Head and Stan Knowlton. The presentation deals with general economic development issues. Bruised Head discusses language preservation, literacy programs, museum artifacts, border crossing and associated ceremonial object transport concerns, concerns with the Federal Pathways to Success program for economic development, taxation issues, racism and employment, Friendship Centre grant access, national parks access and policies towards Aboriginal peoples, the need to meet with municipal officials nationwide, the need to treat Treaty Indians and Metis people differently, and the need for Aboriginal people to have research grants to "study the parliamentary system, for us to study the white people, for us to study the institutions that are still somewhat vague to us, and any other topic that would create justice and at least have some kind of co-operation." Following the presentation Commissioner Georges Erasmus discusses some of the points raised with Bruised Head and Knowlton. | |
