Scope and content | File contains materials related to the numbered Treaties in Western Canada, mainly Treaty Six, signed at Fort Carlton and Fort Pitt in 1876. File includes an undated, unsourced article by Bob Bowman entitled "Treaty Six was a steal." File also includes a "Summary of a Treaty at Ft. Pitt in 1876 between Her Majesty the Queen and the Plain and Wood Cree Tribes of Indians and Other Tribes Inhabiting the Country Described as Follows," by John Wagland of the Prince Albert Historical Society (nd), also includes hand-written notes on the size status of Treaty Six Reserves (nd), also includes a typed copy of Treaty Six, and a typed copy of Treaty Four, also includes handwritten notes (nd or author) regarding the terms of Treaty Six and the inhabitants of the area at the time, also includes a copy of a map of the numbered Treaties and those found in Ontario and Quebec, also includes a fascimile of "parts of of the original Treaty [6], signed at Fort Carlton," also includes a book entitled "The Treaties Between Her Majesty Queen Victoria and The Indians of British North America" reprinted by The Provincial Committee on Minority Groups chaired by Tommy Douglas, in co-operation with the Federation of Saskatchewan Indians (1961), also includes a Prince Albert Daily Herald article from September 19, 1995, entitled "'For as long as the grass grows': Effects of Treaty 6 still felt by both parties to original signing" by Connie Sampson, also includes an assortment of short articles from the Saskatoon Star Phoenix regarding Treaties and Band-Rural Municipality relations. | |
