Curator's note | Bricks were first produced in the Estevan area around 1900 when it was discovered that the clay around the Souris River was of good quality. One of the largest operations The Eureka Coal and Brick Company, later International Clay Products, began operation in 1906 producing a buff covered brick that was used on many of the province's major institutional buildings, including the Prince Albert Sanatorium and the Estevan Court House. |
