1907
  • First Infantry unit formed in new province of Saskatchewan
  • 95th Saskatchewan Rifles formed Headquarters in Regina and a Company in Saskatoon.
1912
  • 95th Rifles reorganized - Two Regiments formed:
    • 95th with H.Q. in Regina
    • 105th with H.Q. in Saskatoon - (later in the year title of "Fusiliers" added)
1914
  • 105th Regina Fusiliers become allied with King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry (K.O.Y.L.I.)
  • Further change in Regimental title occurs in that civic name is incorporated, 105th Regina Fusiliers (Saskatoon)
1914-1918
    GREAT WAR
  • Battalions are mobilized to form units having a numerical title
  • Initially, 105th Regina Fusiliers (Saskatoon) makes largest contribution to 11th Battalion
  • This Battalion supplies very great number of reinforcements to 5th Battalion C.E.F.
  • Substantial numbers of Regiment are drafted to other infantry units of C.E.F., particularly the 65th and the 96th Battalions, which also mobilizes in Saskatoon.
1919
  • North Saskatchewan Regiment formed, incorporating the 105th Fusiliers (Saskatoon) as 1st Battalion, and 52nd Regiment as 2nd Battalion.
  • 1st Battalion perpetuates the 5th Battalion C.E.F. and the 2nd Battalion perpetuates the 53rd Battalion C.E.F.
1923
  • North Saskatchewan Regiment becomes allied with Duke of Wellington's Regiment (West Riding) which results in cancellation of alliance of 105th Regiment Fusiliers (Saskatoon) with K.O.Y.L.I.
  • 1st Battalion North Saskatchewan Regiment assumes title of Saskatoon Light Infantry and 2nd Battalion North Saskatchewan Regiment assumes title of "Prince Albert Volunteers"
  • Two Battalions of S.L.I. are formed, the 1st which perpetuates the 5th Battalion C.E.F. and the 2nd (Reserve) Battalion which perpetuates the 65th Battalion C.E.F.
1925
  • S.L.I. resumes alliance with K.O.Y.L.I.
1929
  • Battle Honours awarded to Battalion for Great War Service
1936
  • Extensive reorganization of Non-Permanent Active Militia
  • Canadian Machine Gun Corps is disbanded and infantry regiments (including the S.L.I.) become Machine Gun Regiments. S.L.I. has Headquarters and three Companies in Saskatoon, and one Company ("C" Coy) in Melfort. This marks the status of the Regiment at the outbreak of World War II in 1939.
1940
  • "B" Coy is detached and under command of Second Canadian Infantry Brigade in anticipation of being on orders to France
  • Seventh Corps Home Forces is formed, consisting of First Canadian Division, Second Canadian Division and First British Armoured Division
  • "B" Coy returns to Battalion control
  • Battalion passes to "under Command" of First British Armoured Division
  • During evacuation of France, Battalion takes over functions in Support Group for First British Armoured Division
1941
  • After the forming of the Canadian Corps, the Battalion returns to First Canadian Division and becomes its Machine Gun (M.G.) Battalion
  • Reconnaissance troop of the Battalion is disbanded and its personnel, together with personnel from other reconnaissance troops, become newly formed Fourth Reconnaissance Division (Princess Louise Dragon Guards) A close association begins between the P.L.D.G's and the S.L.I. (M.G.)
1943
  • Machine Gun Battalion is changed to Support Battalion consisting of enlarged Headquarters to administer Division's Administrative Area and three Brigade Support Groups, each under the command of a Brigade for operations (Mortar, Anti-Aircraft, & Machine Gun)
  • Battalion becomes known as 1st Canadian Division Support Battalion (S.L.I.)
1944
  • Reorganization: Mortar Companies are withdrawn from their respective groups and organized into Division Mortar Group controlled by H.Q. No. 3 and co-ordinated with Artillery support.
  • Anti-Aircraft Companies are placed under No.1 Group H.Q.
  • M.M.G. Companies are placed under No. 2 Group H.Q.
  • Battalion later reorganized as Machine Gun Battalion to be known as 1st Battalion, Saskatoon Light Infantry (MG) comprised of Headquarters, Headquarters Company, 3 - Machine Gun Companies and a Mortar Company
  • "A" Company and 1st Battery to be under Command of 1st Brigade
  • "B" Company and 2nd Battery to be under Command of 2nd Brigade
  • "C" Company and 3rd Battery to be under Command of 3rd Brigade
1945
  • Battalion arrives back home in Saskatoon and 1st Battalion Saskatoon Light Infantry (MG) is disbanded
