Historical Note: For those who could afford it, many
clubs and organizations found a home on the banks of Wascana Lake. The
Regina Boat Club was founded in 1909, and its headquarters were along
the shorelines of Wascana Lake. The Wascana Badminton club was built in
1930, and in 1934 an addition to the building was constructed. This building
became known as the Wascana Winter Club, and it offered recreational figure
skating, badminton, and curling facilities. The Wascana Winter Club was
located at Albert Street and 19th Avenue. The Regina Tennis Club, which
was founded in 1883, found a home in Wascana Park in 1930, and the Civil
Service Tennis Club, established in 1915, was also located in Wascana
Park.
