Historical Note: The Normal School, like Regina College,
had a number of different temporary homes before buildings were constructed
in 1913-1914. The building was designed by Storey and Van Egmond, a prominent
architectural firm from Regina. The Normal School was built on 16th Avenue
(now College Avenue) next to Regina College. This print is one of a set
of 20 professional photographs that were purchased by the City of Regina
Archives. The prints in this set were created especially for Duncan’s
Drug Store, which was located at 1747 Scarth Street. The company that
produced this series of prints was the Gowan Sutton Corporation of Vancouver,
British Columbia. The photographs were probably sold as postcards or given
away to promote the drug store.
