Historical Note: Chief William A. White retired in 1938. He had served as fire chief for 32 years, the longest of any fire chief in Regina 's history. After White's retirement, City Council closed two fire halls and retired the last of the fire horses. This was in lieu of granting firefighters one day off out of every seven.
