Within a year of Glasgow House's opening, Williams bought out Sheppard. The store proved to be immensely popular, and Williams was forced first to move to larger quarters on South Railway between Broad and Rose Streets and later to expand that location several times. Ultimately, the business moved to larger quarters on 11 th Avenue and Hamilton Streets (where the TD Canada Trust building now stands), where it was known as R.H. Williams and Sons Department Store.
