Scope and content | Monotone postcard of the sculpture detail of Peter cutting off the ear of Malchus, according to the Gospel of John in the New Testament of the Bible, Malchus is the High Priest's servant who participated in the arrest of Jesus. One of the disciples, Peter according to John, being armed with a sword, cut off the servant's ear in an attempt to prevent his Master's arrest. This detail is located in the Notre-Dame de Reims (Our Lady of Rheims) Cathedral in Reims, France. Series postcard number and title from back of postcard. | |
