Curator's note | Mart Crowley's 1968 off Broadway hit "The Boys in the Band" was the first American play to focus without apology on the lives of gay characters - in this case a circle of Greenwich Village men. The comedy of manners was filmed by William Friedkin in 1970. This ad for the film's presentation in Saskatoon is one of the first advertisements concerning homosexuality to appear in Saskatchewan. |
