Curator's noteThe declaration of Blue Jean Days was a popular strategy of campus gay groups in the 1980s and 1990s to raise awareness of the stigma still attached to homosexuality. The declaration that all gays and lesbians would wear blue jeans on a certain day usually prompted some students to search out their cordoroys and to post outraged letters to student newspapers.
