Fast Facts:
Campaign: Vitality
Dates: 1991-1995
Description: Healthy lifestyle messages related
to eating well, being physically active, and feeling good about
yourself.
Funding: Health Canada special campaign funds.
Overview:
This program was conceived by Health Canada and intended to convey
to the public three key messages (related to a healthy lifestyle):
(1) eating well, (2) being physically active, and (3) feeling good
about yourself.
ParticipACTION was contracted by Health Canada to develop a “name”
and graphic style for the proposed campaign. Under the direction
of ParticipACTION’s François Lagarde, the name “Vitality
/ Vitalité” was selected along with a graphic style
that ment the same word-logo could be used for both English and
French.
ParticipACTION was then funded by Health Canada to develop the
television, radio and print campaign for the first two years, plus
organize the ministers’ media launches in Toronto and Montreal.
The Vitality messages continue in a modified form under the management
of Health Canada.
