Curator's note | The Roxy is the oldest and by far the most elegant theatre still standing in Saskatoon. It was built in an elaborate Spanish Mission style at the beginning of the economic depression of the 1930s. When it opened in August 1930 ticket prices were 40 cents for adults and 25 cents for children. It was the first commercial building in Saskatoon to have air conditioning. |
