Curator's note | During the settlement era Doukhobor women had the reputation of being fine seamstresses and weavers. Although store bought clothing was available many members of the community preferred to spin and weave their own naturally grown and dyed fibres, usually flax, hemp and wool, and to produce their own clothing and fabrics following traditional patterns. |
