Curator's note | The University Bridge, also known as the 25th Street Bridge, spans the South Saskatchewan River at Saskatoon. The bridge was begun in 1913 as the city's first reinforced concrete arch bridge. The project soon encountered both financial and engineering problems, and the provincial government was left to complete the bridge in 1916. According to urban myth a construction worker fell to his death into one of the pier forms and still lies entombed in the structure. |
