Curator's note | John East was the first man to establish a foundry operation in Saskatoon in 1910. Two of the trade-marks slogans were: "If it's made of cast iron we make it" and "If it's done in a machine shop we do it." The John East plant consisted of a foundry, pattern shop, blacksmith shop, machine shop and oxy-acetylene welding room. In the foundry were manufactured cast gears, flame sheets, pistons, piston rings and gears for any make of tractor. Also castings for water and sewer connections of many types. |
